Composition

Writing music, and particularly writing music to picture, is always a unique challenge for every project.  Finding the right mood and energy, hitting the sync points (if that’s the plan) and creating a musical journey in a piece of music sometimes as short as 15-30 seconds can be difficult and will often require finding a way through some compromises. That said, coming out of the other side of this process with a piece that fits the brief, whilst demanding, is always very satisfying. I love to write music in all styles and am very happy to pitch on your project.

I’m an experienced guitarist and pianist and I can compose and arrange in any style.  I love a challenge but am particularly proficient in guitar-led music, folk styles and electronica.

I have written music for Sky, Sony, Channel 4, ABC, Nickelodeon, TFL and many other brands and broadcasters, and have written hours of music just for the fun of it too. I’m an avid music lover and can often be found trawling through Spotify for new music.

My years as a post-production engineer have also given me good insight to what works and doesn’t work in regards to production music.  With a brief on your project I can also act as a music consultant and find a good selection of tracks from commercial, library and save you hours of hunting through libraries!

Please get in touch if you’d like me to pitch some music for your project or do a music search for you.  You can hear some of my latest pieces on the soundcloud links on this page.

I had a hankering to write some upbeat synthpop…so I did. I like this track a lot, it’s upbeat and has a good hook.

This piece started off as a guitar duet performed by myself and a friend but then I felt it needed a bit more in the way of instrumentation to warm it up.

This is the first of a series of tracks for an upcoming blues album, hitting a production library near you soon!
